Thank you Diptea

Hello beautiful souls,

This post is a part of the series -People that inspire me -Heroes/Heroines I met in real life

I wanted to change topics a little and talk about another segment of my life. I lived with a wonderful girl during my last few years in Rochester where I was pursuing my Masters degree. I am going to call her Diptea (which is not her real name)for the sake of privacy.

I must say that these were the best days of my life in Rochester. We are both from the southern part of India. Star common point haha! We were so glad we became roommates. Unlike a lot of other Indian students at that time, we decided to just keep it to two people in our apartment. We loved the independence. We shared many common interests as well.

She inspired me in so many ways that I don't even know where to begin. Diptea loved her family so much. She had so much respect for elders that I could tell from the way she spoke to her own parents. But what inspired me the most was that she was independent. She gave me the confidence to be at home away from home. She made the little apartment her home. She had a big beautiful smile always although I know some days she was struggling with her own insecurities and fears. I remember gossiping with her until late in the night, having our own "south Indian" version of chai and being very proud of it. She is a sensitive person that taught me how to be mindful of other people's feelings.

Diptea is a  super talented person. She is a star performer with top grades. Not just academically, she is good at so many other things. Her drawings and paintings are mind blowing. She is a great singer with a Shreya Ghoshal like voice. Her general knowledge is up to date. She knows how to do her nails perfectly and she can thread her own eyebrows. I know you are in awe already.

She is an all-rounder. She has the best heart and I am proud to call her my friend. She has helped me out in so many ways I can't even begin to explain. She is my role model of a friend. She is talented and at the same time humble. She will go out of her way to help others. That is what a friend is to me. People can do a lot of things that is in their comfort zone. But very few people go out of their comfort zone to help others out. She is a true friend and always my hero. Whenever I am down I think about her and I know it will all be just fine.  She is a true example of "girlinone".

Friends like that are what make my life beautiful. I am sure all of you have friends that make you want to do more with your life and make you want to be a better person. I adore mine that created impact in my life.

I dedicate this post to you Diptea <3 I love you always.

Lots of love and positive vibes from me to you
